Yet another crossroads in the entreprenuarial map! We have elements of the business trending upwards, but possibly not as quick as we would like and the bank is comfortably high...at this point. However, sales are not growing quick enough, given that one contract may not last beyond the end of the year, consequently we need to consider options to grow quicker. The brain teaser is this, you either change little things keeping your costs relatively stable, but likely having little impact on sales....or you change bigger things, increase the burn rate on the bank but with a bigger potential prize at the end of it.
I'm sure this is a familiar story in businesses of all kind. Unfortunately, there's no right answer and often there are so many variables it's dificult to know 'exactly' what will happen in practise if you choose a particular route. At present my head is spinning with 'what ifs'. I guess ulitmately it's about considering the worst, worst case scenarios for each decision and deciding whether these leave options again to try and move the business forward, even if only to arrive back we're you were before!
In our case, we have a unique lead on the market in terms of our product (I think it's better) and our marketing (we are an early adopter of a new technique) hence my tendancy at this point is to be bold and try and blow the market wide open with a relatively high increase in spend...watch this space.
