8th May 2007 - Lost in the fog following a 5 day break!

It's the Tuesday back after a bank holiday weekend.  I finished work on Wednesday night to go away with the family for a long weekend.  Although I kept my phone with me it wasn't long before I decided enough was enough and I left the laptop in the bag for e-mails to accumulate at a rate of knots.

We got back at 12.30 last night, so getting the children up for school was fun.  Now I'm back at my desk feeling weary and trying to get to grips with what I should be doing. It feels like I've been away for a month, which in many ways it's good, it confirms I've had a break!  But in terms of the business, it's all a bit foggy.  I'm not really sure where I was last Wednesday and what I should be doing now, and the inbox is just a little less than managable.

If you're not careful here, it's where you end up letting the fog and weariness get you down and telling yourself that breaks are bad.  In reality, after a day or two back, the fog clears and you forget you even had a break!  I guess the moral here is a break is a break and you do need them.  Don't expect to move mountains on your first day back, give yourself a day or so to re-adjust to work without getting too stressed.
