Pharmaceutical recruitment agencies may need to re-think as pharmaceutical vacancies are in decline
The last 18 months has seen dramatic changes within the pharmaceutical industry. Countless companies have merged, sold, been bought, the net result are fewer, but larger companies, but overall less pharmaceutical jobs, and therefore less pharmaceutical vacancies to recurit for.
The scale of change is as dramatic for the pharmaceutcial recruitment agencies as it is is for the pharmaceutical companies themselves as the structure of the industry continues to change. For large pharmaceutical recruitment agencies, in an age where a large pharmaceutical company may have up to 8 medical reps per territory across 60 territories, this meant that one recruitment consutlant could service as few as two accounts and be extremely busy. With an increasing move back towards a true business role with onlny one rep per territpry, it seems unlikely that the larger, multi office pharmaceutical agencies will be able to sustain their infrastructures as the overall number of pharmaceutical vacancies continues to fall in line with general staff reduction in this sector.
