Egg on Labour as Nurse quits the NHS
As if the government didn't have enough on it's plate, no a highly respected nurse has quit the NHS over government changes.
In 2007 Justine Whitaker one the Royal College of Nursing's nurse of the year award. She had built a distinguished career in the NHS only to recently leave her role and the NHS and take up a career in college lecturing.
She loved her role as a nurse, and having gained such an accolade where had it all gone wrong? Justine explains that the government changes in the NHS meant that she was doing less and less nursing, and spending more time behind a desk.
It's a story familiar to the pharmaceutical industry for some time, consistently picking up disillusioned nurses for commercial nurse advisor jobs from their NHS positions. Until this case the government had been amplifying their Rhetoric that motivation was better than ever. Perhaps now this high profile case will persuade them to take closer look at their changes once again.
