A.  Recruitment jobs are probably more about atitude than qualifications.  It's very dynamic and competitive environment.

Q.  What can I earn as a recruitment consultant?

A.  The skies the limit.  Some companies will offer commission up to 50% of the fees you make.  A good recruitment consultant may generate £10K to £20K per month, that's a lot of commission by any standards.

Q.  There are 1000s of jobs in recruitment advertised on the internet, are they all genuine?

A.  Probably not.  Many internet sites are set up such that a recruitment agency will get more applications if they post more jobs.  What they often do is buy unlimited recruitment vacancies in order to post each job several times to maximise the response, hence, many are duplicates.  In addition, many agencies may have the same recruitment vacancies which will mean more duplication.

Q.  What's the best industry sector to be a recruitment consultant in?

A.  It depends really what you want.  Logically, the best placed to start would be a sector where you have some background.  If your in IT, try pharmaceuticals, try pharmaceutical recruitment first, you'll understand it better.  Once you've done some recruitment it's easier to move around different sectors, for example, if you're looking for one with more money in it!

Q.  What hours will I work as a recruitment consultant?

A.  It's such a consuming and demanding role I can't imagine doing it part time, although some do.  To do well, you'll have to put the hours in, early starts and late finishes are common in order to catch candidates before and after work.  If you want a quiet number, recruitment isn't for you.
