Graduate jobs lost to outsourcing
As the Uk economy tightens it's belt in all areas it appears graduate jobs in IT are being lost in favour of outsourcing overseas.
In general the UK graduate jobs market has held up well in recent months. In It generally it was thought that the jobs market was buoyant with job number increasing and salaries rising.
What appears to be happening at the entry level graduate jobs in It is that many companies are opting for outsourcing in order to cut costs. Relatively simple IT work such as tech support call centres can be outsourced easily yo places such as India where labour rates are a fraction of those in the UK. It's trend that is only likely to get stronger which will further reduce the opportunity for IT graduate jobs in the UK.
It's great news if you established in UK IT work as it means good staff at middle levels will become more scarce and should push their salaries up further still in the next couple of years.
