Graduates queue up at recruitment agencies

The credit crunch is driving graduates away from the private sector in and into the arms of recruitment agencies in search of greater security.

The current economic climate is reaching almost everyone in the UK.  Now it would appear that graduates are queuing up at recruitment agencies in a bid to seek greater security away from the private sector.

Recruitment director Natasha Waas of People Unlimited says that graduates are looking outside of the private sector with one example being the charity sector.  Unfortunately, many are doing so perceiving this as not only more secure, but easier to get into, which may not be the case.  Recruitment agencies and their clients in the charity sector are just as specialised as any other sector, preferring people with experience and skill in the right areas.  Many graduates assume incorrectly that because they have a degree, the charity sector should be an easy target.  Recruitment agencies will have to work hard to manage their expectations.
