Improvements required for graduate recruitment in care industry

The care industry is not one you may automatically associate with graduate recruitment. With the aging population, recruitment opportunities and graduate opportunities will be excellent in this sector.

Graduate recruitment firms may be missing a golden opportunity.  At a time with the UK economy is being put through the mill, few areas have prospects as good as the care industry.  HR expert Moira Browne estimates that 2.5 million care workers will be required by 2025.  This offer huge opportunities to innovative graduate recruitment firms willing to take on the challenge.

The challenge itself will require making the care industry appear as an attractive graduate career opportunity, which at present it isn't.  Historically, the high profile recruitment sectors are such as the legal and finance sectors, but these now are suffering headcount losses due to the credit crunch.  Although they have been the most attractive options in the past, they may no longer offer the secure option they once did.

Ms Browne explains that graduate recruitment schemes for the care sector will need to improve if they are to compete effectively in the open market.  With the size of the growth predicted, if a graduate recruitment agency gets it right, the financial rewards could be huge.
