Medical sales of statins moves over to OTC

In the last decade Medical sales companies with statins have had ongoing battles to a sell statins, used for cholesterol lowering, following research indicating their widespread use.  The issue was that the research showed such dramatic reductions in the risks of heart attacks that the implications for usage where enormous with cost implications beyond the scope of the NHS.

Understandably medical sales companies placed great resources behind these drugs only to find restrictions in place preventing the widespread usage that had been hoped.  Ironically, now the drugs are off patent, they are selling them at £17 per month with a large patient population who have been unable to receive the drugs under the NHS, giving medical sales companies the opportunity to make back some of their lost ground.
