PR man not such good relations with recruitment consultants

Paul Carroll, a PR guru has compared recruitment consultants to wasps in a bizarre statement in which he claims they have no purpose.

From a man who's expertise is supposed to be building and maintaining relations it's a peculiar statement he describes recruitment consultants as like wasps, in having no real definable purpose, a statement not likely to win friends and influence people in the recruitment industry.

It may be true that there are good and bad recruitment consultants, but the very fact that business owners have used agencies for so long is an indication of their value.  It would be naive to think that many business hadn't compared recruitment with and without the help of a recruitment consultant.

In my own experience as an employer, I did indeed question the expense of a recruitment consultants help.  Without this help, recruitment quickly became a problem.  One off advertising costs were large, the response was too much to handle and ultimately we ended up with a poorer quality pool of candidates than we had using recruitment consultants.

My own opinion is that our success as a business is more than 50% about getting the best available staff, so in my book, it's money well spent!
